Sprogmanay Free Event

12:00 - 16:00 Fri 30th Dec 2016 – Sun 1st Jan 2017 Edinburgh’s Old Town Free and unticketed

What’s it all about

Bairns enjoyed Edinburgh’s Hogmanay with our specifically tailored children’s events. Sprogmanay found it’s home in The National Museum of Scotland as we brought the party indoors animating spaces with art, words and sounds from across Scotland.

We enjoyed:

  • Hogmanay arts and crafts activities
  • Finding our Hogmonkeys around the museum using our Hogmanay trail
  • Making mini lanterns in our arts and crafts hub then show them off during one of our mini processions around the museum
  • Live music performances from Sprog Rock
  • Design-and-build a Dazzle Ship with Edinburgh Art Festival
  • Edinburgh International Science Festival buskers will entertained us throughout the afternoon
  • Red Bridge presented Tales of a Grandson in association with Imaginate Festival Scottish storytelling in the museum
  • Family fun at the National Museum of Scotland’s annual Hogmanay Family Ceilidh
  • The Scottish Chamber Orchestra brought in the New Year with lively pop-up performances and vibrant, hands-on, musical activities for all the family
